My Autumn Shoe Wish List

I’ve said it before and I will say it again – I. Love. Shoes. Like most other girls I have a wish list in my head of all the items I want to add to my wardrobe this season so I want to share mine with you along with a few of the options available on the high street in case you need a bit of shoe inspiration.

The first item on my shoe wish list this season is a pair of lace-up flats. There is a clear trend for lace-ups at the moment and I can see why; they’re so simple but so sophisticated and perfect for any occasion whether you want to jazz up your work wardrobe or if you’re off to a party and just can’t be bothered to wear heels. There is plenty to chose from so whatever your personal style the right pair for you is out there.

Next up is the over the knee boot. These definately won’t be for everyone as they are quite a bold fashion statement, however if you are willing to take the risk they’re the perfect boots for Autumn/Winter and will look amazing with so many different outfits. They will spice up a casual pair of skinny jeans or add an edgy vibe to your favourite going out outfit.

You’ve probably noticed that fringing is everywhere especially with the continuation of the 70s revival trend. I really really love fringe because it adds so much to simple outfits and you don’t have to go over the top if you dot want to. These fringe detail sandals are perfect to add just a hint of the trend to your outfit and these beautiful fringe detail boots from Zara are perfect for Autumn/Winter …

The final item on my shoe wish list are a pair of nude courts. I have always wanted a pair of these and this season I will finally be investing in some. They’re perfect for the upcoming party season as they will go with pretty much any outfit for any occasion and will never go out of fashion.

Topshop Unique Autumn/Winter ’15 Collection

In my eyes, Topshop can do no wrong. Season after season they always bring out amazing clothes and whatever your personal style they’ll definately have something for you. Their catwalk collection Topshop Unique is one of my favourite shows to watch at Fashion Week every season as the collections never disappoint, and I love ‘window shopping’ the ranges online whishing that I had the funds to invest in a piece!

This years Autumn/Winter collection is definately one of my favourites that they’ve shown, it’s like a reflection of my personal style with chunky knits, pretty blouses and mini skirts and the colour palette is simply stunning. Here’s a selection of some of my personal favourite pieces …

Crazy for Cord

When I was a child in the 90s, I spent most of my time wearing my favourite pair of bright purple corduroy trousers and I thought that now I’m all grown up I’d never have to wear cord again. But now its back and it’s back with a bang!

Cord is absolutely everywhere both on the high street and on the catwalks – one of my favourite looks from London Fashion Week in February was these stunning Chloe pink cord dungarees …

I never thought I’d say this but cord is DEFINITELY on my shopping list for my Autumn wardrobe, here are some of my top pics from the highstreet …

Shoes: Pleasure and Pain

Any of you who have read my blog before will know that I am obsessed with shoes, they are my one true love. When I moved to London for uni I basically became a British Carrie Bradshaw – except with a lot less money to fuel my addiction! So when I saw an advertisement on the tube for the exhibition entitled ‘Shoes Pleasure and Pain’ at the Victoria and Albert Museum, I knew I had to check it out.

Walking into the exhibition was like walking into a dream land – cases full of amazing shoes from different cultures and time periods, I was like a child peering through the glass wanting to try them all on!

4-Installation-view-of-Shoes-Pleasure-and-Pain-at-the-VandA-Victoria-and-Albert-Museum shoes_pleasure_pain-5-of-39 shoes2_glamour_10jun15_pr_b_1080x720 425104_img650x420_img650x420_crop

Although the ground floor is dedicated to displaying the shoes that we all lust after, the first floor is more about the processes that go into making the shoes. There’s sketches and deconstructions of each stage of shoemaking as well as videos of interviews with shoe legends including Christian Louboutin and Manolo Blahnik which I was fascinated by.

Some of my favourite exhibits included shoes from fairytales like the amazing Swarovski Crystal slipper from the new Cinderella film and the beautiful red ballet shoes from Hans Christan Andersons’ tale ‘The Red Shoes’ as well as shoes from pop culture including Marilyn Munroe’s white courts, Lady Gaga’s stunning gold embellished Alexander McQueen creations and the Vivienne Westwood platforms that sent Naomi Campbell tumbling down the runway …

I also finally got to see the fantastic ‘Nova’ shoes designed by architect Zaha Hadid that one of my lecturers at uni talks about all the time!

If you love shoes as much as I do then I really do recommend a visit to the V&A. The exhibition will be there until the end of January next year so you’ve got plenty of time to be amazed.

Glastonbury Fashion

Unless you’ve been living under a rock for the past 4 days, you’ll know that this years Glastonbury music festival took place this weekend. The festival never fails to bring out the celebs and their festival style so here’s a few of some of my favourite looks from this year.

Fringing is always a fave look for festival goers and was well represented by the likes of Suki Waterhouse with her amazing multi coloured fringed jacket, and Poppy Delevigne who went for a more sophisticated all black look  …

The classic festival go-to denim shorts were also strongly represented with Laura Whitmore adding a high neck crop and Moschino belt, Jaime Winstone opted to dress hers up with a pair of preppy knee high socks while Carolie Flack went with a beautiful long line suede jacket …

The current 70’s revival trend appeared to be the theme of this years celebrity looks at Glastonbury with Adele, Alexa Chung and Laura Whitmore rocking boho chic …

A few more of my favourite looks from this years festival include Ella Eyre’s cutesy dress and Adidas jacket combo, Daisy Lowe’s utility jumpsuit, Cresida Bonas’ printed co-ord and Kendal Jenner’s amazing fur jacket …
